Banana Fritters (Pisang goreng)

Pisang goreng is probably one of the most common snacks you can find in Indonesia. It is not only available at the street food vendors and go together with all fried fried snacks like singkong goreng (fried yuka), tempeh goreng, tahu goreng and etc. But it also appears at restaurant and cafes served with vanilla ice cream like that of the Raja restaurant and cafe at the Kuta Square in Bali.

Raja's pisang goreng is my favorite 4 p.m snacks mostly after checking out of the hotels at 2 p.m and waiting to my afternoon flight. Just sits there in the cafe, watching the crowds passing by with a glass of fresh lime juice and a small plate of pisang goreng.

Here's the recipe to the delicious and crunchy pisang goreng:

Ingredients:
4 large bananas cut into 2 and then cut it almost into two (don't tear them apart)
1 cup of all purpose flour
1/2 cup rice flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup water
Oil for deep frying.

Directions:

1. Mixed the flours and baking soda, salt and stir in the water.
2. Heat the oil in the wok, dip the banana in the wok and then make sure that it coated throughly.
3. Fry the banana till the colors golden (app 3-4 minutes)
4. Serve warm (it also good to go with vanilla ice cream)
