I got this recipe from a friend of mine, nasi kuning is usually served for a celebration, either a birthday, graduation, farewell party, you named it ;).
I made one for Lebaran celebration at home, and served this to my multinational guests. Here is the recipe:
3 cups of rice, wash and drain.
3 cups of cocounut milk (1.5 cans)
3 cups of water
1tsp turmeric powder to give the yellow effect.
3 cm ginger; crushed
1 lemon grass; bruised
2 tsp salt
5 pcs key lime leaves.
Directions:
1. Boiled the coconut milk and water, add the rest of the ingredients.
2. When the coconut milk mix is boiling, add the rice in then stir them till the water almost dried.
3. Put the rice into the steamer for another 30 minutes.
4. Served the rice with fried chicken, sambal tempeh and urap.
